Are you a reputable company?
SONIC has been in business for several years and all of our DJ's have a wealth of professional experience behind them. We have a proven track record and can assure you that our quality and reputation is second to none. We have performed at many functions from Weddings and Private functions to Blue Chip Corporate Events and some of the countries leading nightclubs with audience from 20 to 3000.
Do you send us a written quote?
In an aim to try and contribute to the protection of our environment, SONIC tries to reduce the amount of paper we produce, whilst also recognising the reassurance that a written communication brings. Therefore all of our standard quotes are stated on the website. If you require anything more, i.e. additional hours, additional equipment then personal quotes will be emailed on request.
Do you add VAT to your quote?
No we do not charge VAT. Remember though if you book a disco through your hotel or venue you will be charged VAT. Booking direct from us will save you that extra expense.
If I want to book Just Disco what do I do now?
Go to the 'Booking a Roadshow' tab on the website; this will provide you with all the information you need.
Do we have a signed agreement?
Yes all the relevant details of your event are on the confirmation form that will be mailed to you once your deposit has cleared. You will receive a copy from us for your own files. It is most important that you keep this in a safe place and ensure that the details are correct.
If I have to cancel my confirmed booking what will happen?
You must inform us of the cancellation in writing. We regret that the deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel within 30 days of the event the total fee is payable.
The band say they'll just play music from a laptop in between sets
A proffesional Dj will have the skills to guage his/her audience and play the right music and interact with the audience to get your party moving. At the end of the day, it's your choice, but choosing the people with the right skills will ensure your occasion is a success.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance cover?
Yes. We have full public liability insurance cover. The venue you have hired for your event will insist on this requirement from any entertainment supplier you bring onto their premises.
Is your equipment PAT tested?
Yes, our equipment also is PAT tested for electrical safety. More and more venues are stipulating this, and specifically if you holding your event in a local council establishment, this will be required.
Can we supply our own choice of ''song list''?
You can send us your own music choice ''song list'' requests about 4 weeks prior to your event. We have thousands of tracks available covering all styles of music from the 60's to current and future chart releases.
What kind of DJ will we have?
Our DJ's are reliable experienced professionals who will create the right atmosphere for your event by playing the tracks you want to hear. They will assist in any announcements that need to be made and ensure the smooth running of your event making it a night to remember. Our Dj's will be smartly dressed and evening wear can be worn on request. All Dj's act in a professional manner, i.e. no smoking, alcoholic drinks, or social acquaintances present during there performance.
Do you have backup if the DJ is ill?
Yes we have excellent back up from our network of DJs
What is your equipment like?
We only use top of the range up to date professional sound systems providing a crisp clear sound. Our lighting equipment ranges from 'intelligent' DMX controlled intelligent lighting to brand new LED and Laser lighting. This creates just the right colour wash and ambience to enhance your event. Our mobile rigs are adequate for an audience of 50 - 400 people.
Can you set up earlier in the day if required?
To assist in the smooth running of your event you may wish us to set up earlier in the day. With advance notice we can set up whenever you require it. Because of the extra hours involved this will incur a small extra charge.
How long does it take to set up the equipment?
Setting up takes between 30 to 90 minutes (depending on Roadshow type) before your event start time. De-rigging at the end takes 60 minutes. This must be taken into account when planning any arrangements. If the function is in a Marquee or other outside situation the set up position must be undercover and dry. The floor area must be insulated from the ground and made safe for electrical use. Because of Health and Safety laws this is a requirement that you the booker is responsible for. We need 2 x 13 amp sockets. A flat floor area of least 3 mtrs x 2 mtrs with a head height of 2.2 mtrs is required (but we can always squeeze into a slightly smaller space if need be).
Why do fees vary so much for one Disco company to another?
Fees for the DJ industry do vary. The best price is not always the best deal. A cheap DJ working with poor equipment for pocket money and a bad attitude will ruin any event. Always remember the old saying ''You get what you pay for'' Any professional Mobile Disco company will have in excess of £15000 invested in their equipment. They have a passion for what they do. They care about you the client. They will take note of all your requirements offering helpful advice and work with you to ensure your special event is a roaring success.
Can I ask you for advice?
Yes that is all part of the service. If there is something we haven't covered just call and ask. We are always available with friendly help and advice should you need it.

What will my DJ wear?
Generally they will wear a black shirt and black trousers. Evening dress can be worn by request.
Do you have insurance?
Sonic Light And Sound has Public Liability Insurance which will protect you and your guests against any personal injury claims. Many venues will insist on showing this. Copies of our PLI can be provided on request.
Do I have to Feed the DJ?
In short, no. Your DJ is there to do a job and you are paying them for it. It looks unprofessional to have the DJ tucking in to the buffet when they should be behind the DJ booth. All DJ's are encouraged to bring their own food, which should be consumed before or after the event.
When shall we book our DJ?
Generally as soon as you can, especially during busy periods, e.g. the summer months and leading up to Christmas.
How loud will the music be?
Generally The music will not be loud but in keeping with the type of party and dynamics of the party. If the dance floor is full then the music will be a suitable volume for the crowd. If you have a problem with the music being loud or not loud enough, let them know and they will adjust it accordingly.
Do I have to buy My DJ drinks?
No you are under no obligation to buy them a drink. You can if you want supply the DJ with soft drinks though. The dj is encouraged to bring their own soft drinks, especially during long sets. Our DJ's are not permitted to drink alcohol whilst DJ'ing.
Do you do background music?
Yes we do. This is actually how we start many of our gigs as people filter in etc. It can be tailor made to your precise requirements. Whether it's a formal dinner or a sit down breakfast we can play any form of music at a low volume for as long as you want.
"My mate can do a disco for £50!"
At the end of the day you get what you pay for. There are loads of people out there with some disco equipment, no insurance and not much experience trying to earn a few bob on the odd weekend! All of our DJ's are full time seasoned professionals and know what they are doing. As with everything else, it's worth spending a bit more for a much better act.
How do we know the DJ will turn up?
Each booking is confirmed with a signed legally binding contract. In the case of an unforeseen problem then we will always have another DJ to stand in for them. This has not happened yet though!
I have a band booked, can you play along side them?
Yes, in fact we love supporting bands, we can adapt to any band that is booked and ensure that suitable music is played in between the band sets and that the band is professionally introduced and played out.
Can I see my DJ playing at another party beforehand?
We would kindly ask that requests aren't made to see the Dj's playing. Our Dj's provide services for private events, and we like to respect our clients privacy on there special events. Because we rely on reputation alone, we hope this is sufficient.
Our venue has its own sound and light. Can my DJ use that?
Yes, but it depends on what the equipment is? If it is of poor quality then we would rather supply our own rig, as it will be detrimental to our business to perform with a poor sounding and performing system.
How long do you hold the date without a deposit?
We will a hold a date until a deposit is paid, however if a confirmed booking with deposit comes in for the same date, then that business will be taken.
Are you able to Dj from our Ipod?
Sorry, no we can't play music from your Ipod for legal reasons and Ipod's tend to be unsuited for Dj use. We use proffesional hard disk players designed for Dj'ing.
I notice that your prices have gone up since I placed a booking, do I have to pay more now?
No, if you placed your booking before 1st April 2013, the old prices apply, Standard - £200, Premium - £250 and Premium Plus - £350. The new prices apply to any booking made after 1st April 2013.
